I really must thank you for the entirety of this message, by the way. There are many exceptionally interesting details here; quite the fruitful conversation with him this time, wasn't it? I'd almost think your methods of questioning him are starting to improve already!
The abuse of his own memory is...hm, that's very surprising and yet not. Somewhat disconcerting too, however. To think that he's been likely unearthing the answer he seeks multiple times already, and yet...but why the exact same method over and over? Well, though he wouldn't necessarily know it's the exact same one if he keeps forgetting, would he? What a remarkably foolish form of damage control...it would be more amusing, in its idiocy, if it weren't for the untold number of lives it's consumed in the process already. Yet another reason for us to try not being yet another fruitless batch...
Ensuring he cannot be controlled again? "Again." It must have been before the existence of this ship, and this process he's been working at upon it. But what exactly was it controlling him? I imagine he wouldn't say, as you haven't mentioned any answer in that vein here already. Or perhaps he cannot even remember such details himself, at this point...but surely this may bear importance down the line. That's phrased as if the possibility that he could be controlled once more still exists. [Is it an entity somewhere out there between realities, beyond this particular bubble they're all in now? ...Is that who Jenny's searching for, perhaps? Hmm, but before that tangent--]
My, I truly don't care for the amount he's talking up this next excursion. Even if it turns out peaceful to begin with, at this point, I can only assume the inevitable horror is going to emerge in some way we least expect. Especially if he believes it'll give him the energy he needs for another round of experiments... [Oh, casualties do seem very likely. For all that Jade would like to believe they might somehow be able to circumvent them this time...still, the battle royale is forever a bruise of a memory. It would be overtly optimistic, probably, to expect their prospects to be any better at this point. ...And he'll be signing up anyhow, but that doesn't bear saying. Skulduggery is doubtless already guessing as much, in the same way Jade's all but positive the latter will be too.] And after we all inevitably revive from whatever absolute terribleness transpires...he'll be experimenting without memory charms to fall back on this time, then. Receiving a result he'll likely be unhappy with, once more, but will also have to actually confront the next time around. ...I wonder how he'll react, or what he'll do about it. We can only hope we'll be prepared for whatever transpires by that point, I suppose...
Unsurprising that his outlook is so morbid, though, where pain and death and the power therein might be concerned. Considering how utterly unoriginal he seems to be in every other aspect, I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks in this way simply because it's the first method he found to work, and has stuck with it ever since, at the expense of ever attempting anything less gauche. For a person who derives such entertainment from suffering, it only makes sense he'd limit his options so thoroughly. "Fool" is a truly generous term.
