[Really, if it weren't for the daunting prospect of the distance from the upper decks all the way back down to the cabins, Jade would be rather more sorely tempted to head back and see to Fio himself--get her somewhere more secure, perhaps. But, even being a bit of a hypocrite as he is presently, even he can't exactly justify the risk he'd be imposing upon himself by trying to navigate the ship's furniture-tossing interior in such a way yet again right now...
No, the best thing to do for the moment is probably to try and ensure Fio can secure herself as well as possible, for the meantime--]
Quite a decent selection of items, then! Pillows are very good. Stuffed animals, too, actually--more portable and cute sorts of pillows, if you think about it! [He's trying to keep his tone cheery, at least, as if the storm isn't still wracking the deck in front of him at the moment, and every person moving past him doesn't have some form of mortified attention fixed upon the commotion up on the bridge.] I'd like for you to gather together as many of those soft things as you can, Miss Fio--carefully, of course. Try to take your time, and keep track of your balance when you can! Find yourself a stable corner within the room, and see if you can't wrap yourself up. Pillows first, along with your stuffed animal, and then blankets to keep it all together; in this way, you can build yourself something of a shield! Does that make sense?
Uh-huh. That makes sense, I think. [ A deep breath. ] A shield, a shield...
[ As shaken as she is at the moment, she tries to calmly follow his instruction. She carefully moves across the cabin room, first scooping up her plush bear and a pillow into one arm. It's thankfully very short trips back and forth as she gathers more cushioning as she can to what feels like the most stable corner of the room.
For a moment, she stops speaking, seemingly in full concentration. The noise of faint shuffling around and urgent steps across the carpet is a sign that she's still there. Finally when she gets to the last step of grasping the edges of her blanket to drag it over, her small voice pipes up: ]
This is... so the hard stuff like the furniture doesn't fall and hurt me, right?
[Rest assured Jade's listening as closely as he can--so well as he can manage, anyway, outdoor racket notwithstanding--as Fio moves about on her own end, soft rustling between softer steps as she evidently goes through the motions of gathering up what she can. As she stops speaking in the process, Jade falls silent in turn himself, not exactly wanting to break her concentration at a more critical balancing sort of moment or anything like that.
--Which makes it another very vague point of relief, when her voice does pipe up again at length.]
Exactly right! Once you've got enough layers, hard things will be more likely to bounce off you instead, and prevent nasty things like bruises. You don't want any of those if you can help it, after all! [Jade has incidentally acquired a brand new and exciting set of them himself, in the struggle it had actually taken to reach this particular deck. --But at least over the phone like this, it's not like he has to worry about Fio seeing any of those!] I've also been told that wrapping up in such a way makes you feel safer, too...though I've actually never tried it before myself, to be honest. Is it true, you think...? How do you feel now?
[ She would rather not get any bruises and worry anyone even further! Soon enough she's sitting wrapped up in the blanket, accompanied by pillows and the plush doll in her arms to give her extra comfort. Sounds of fabric rub against the communication device, as she continues to also cling to it like a lifeline.
It nearly feels like the kind of setup she would want to do when relaxing on a cold, winter day. Cozy enough she could nearly doze off in, if it weren't for the violent storm going on right now. But in the case she needs to move or listen to further instruction, she needs to stay awake. ]
...It's comfy. A little less scary. I think I'll be okay.
[ Still obviously a bit shaken, especially when she knows there's something big going on outside. But it's an improvement! ]
